05 / WHAT A CHECKED LOAD AVOIDS
Why the paperwork comes first
Most hazmat delays start with papers that do not match the freight. Checking before pickup avoids these four.
- 01
A refused pickup
The driver will not load freight with missing or wrong papers.
- 02
Fines at inspection
Placards and papers that match the load pass a roadside check.
- 03
A wrong route
Tunnels and bridges that ban the class are planned around.
- 04
Mixed freight problems
Segregation rules checked before your load shares a trailer.

What is hazmat trucking?
Hazmat trucking is the transport of regulated dangerous goods, U.S. DOT hazard classes 1 through 9, by drivers with a hazmat endorsement in placarded trucks, with shipping papers that describe the material.
What do you need to quote a hazmat load?
The UN number, class, packing group, quantity and packaging, plus pickup and delivery details. An SDS helps.
Who provides the placards?
The shipper provides them under DOT rules; we confirm the driver has them and that they match the papers.
Can you mix hazmat with regular freight?
Sometimes, depending on the classes. We check segregation rules before we accept the load.
Do you move lithium batteries?
Yes, as Class 9 with the right packaging and documents.
Are there extra costs for hazmat?
Hazmat rates are higher because of the endorsement and insurance. The quote shows the full price up front.
