Freight too big for a standard trailer
Heavy haul is freight over the legal limits for a standard truck: about 8 ft 6 in wide, 13 ft 6 in high, 53 ft long or 80,000 lb gross. It moves on lowboys, RGNs and multi-axle trailers under state permits, often with a route survey and escorts.

10 / HEAVY HAUL QUESTIONS
Straight answers
Don’t see yours? Add it to your quote request and a dispatcher will reply.
What is heavy haul trucking?
Heavy haul is the transport of freight that is too wide, too tall or too heavy for a standard trailer. It moves on lowboys, RGNs and multi-axle trailers under state permits, sometimes with route surveys and escort vehicles.
How early should I book an oversize load?
A few days for standard oversize. Four to six weeks for superloads over 200,000 lb, to cover the route survey and permits.
Who pulls the permits?
We do, for every state on the route, and they are included in the quote.
Why is my transit time longer than a normal truck?
Oversize loads can only move in daylight in most states, and some cities limit hours and days.
Do you arrange escorts?
Yes, pilot cars and police escorts where the permit requires them.
Can you load with a crane?
Yes. We coordinate the crane and rigging at pickup and delivery, or work with yours.
